At the end of the story, Charlie writes, "Its easy to make frends if you let pepul laff at you." Do you agree or disagree with Charlie's opinion? Explain.
I agree with Charlie. The fact is if you can laugh at yourself than you have a good sense of humor. It is a matter of how you take it. If people are laugh at you than you are in control. That's because if they laugh at you and you agree with them but slightly disagree you can end up changing their opinion. Also it is good to be able to accept yourself from all angles, and when you do something stupid you should laugh at yourself. All in all there are many benifits of letting people laugh at you as long as you laugh along.
Aaron 10/6/08 I disagree with Charlie's opinion. Say you screw up on something or something bad happens to you and your friends laugh at you. If that happens that means they are not your real friends. You won't know if people are laughing with you or at you. Which means that you will never know who your real friends are. Say you told a funny joke and you and them were laughing at it. Another way to find out who your real friends to talk about something funny and laugh with them about it.
I believe Charlie is absolutely correct. Having the element of humor will prove that you are an individual to spend a great time with, and entertain a fellow peer and potential friend. One needs to entertain others with jokes, not themselves. Charlie failed miserably at such concept. Humor is a way of entertainment and is found in movies such as comedies and many dramas such as "The Shaggy Dog". The quality may get one married or out of a divorce, such as with Bill and Hillary Clinton, who stayed together even after Bill was unfaithful in a scandal with Monica Lewinsky and admitted it all because, "no one makes me laugh the way Bill does" according to Hillary's 2003 memoir and autobiography "Living History".
I think that Charlie coulid be right or wrong depending on the situation. If people are making fun of you that doesn't help you make friends. However if they are laugthing good naturdly at you then that could get you friends. This is what I think.
I think people laughing at you is bad. I think that is because they are laughing at you because you did something wrong or weird. Now if people were laughing with you it would be a whole lot different. Thats because you are laughing with them at a joke or funny comment.
If one lacks the ability to laugh at themselves, their self-image may suffer considerably. If one can just laugh when an experiment blows up in their face, and start the next one, they will become happier. Being able to accept and laugh at your own flaws will make you overall a better human. Who wants to be around a man who is constantly striving to be perfect, itself an impossible goal? On top of that, a good sense pf humor is paramount if one wants friends. Who would you rather be around, an humorless man, or someone who can tell the Russian Pencil joke really well? In conclusion, yes. But it can depend.

I disagree with this statement. I think this way because if someone is laughing at you their not really your friend.
